Playing Dates

PLAYING DATES / COVID-19

WBA’s governing body Basketball Victoria has suspended all basketball related activities, and therefore Waverley Basketball is closed until further notice.  Please click here for our latest news item.

With the spread of COVID-19 increasing across Victoria, and following the Government’s recent announcements and policies, WBA is still preparing for a senior season to commence when facilities reopen.  We understand basketball is being widely missed in the community and players will most likely be looking forward to returning to sport as soon as it is safe to do so.  WBA will create schedules without confirming of playing dates at this stage.

Once Playing Dates are published, teams that are unable commit to the new dates are welcome to a full refund.

The options currently in discussion are as below;

1.

Commencing week of Sunday 17th May through to 30th August + 2 weeks finals.

16 round Winter season > leading into a normal Summer 2021 season.

2.

Commencing week of Sunday 30th May through to 10th October + 2 weeks finals.

19 round Winter season >  leading into a shortened Summer 2021 season.

3.

Commencing week of Sunday 12th July (in line with school term 3) through to 3rd December + 2 weeks finals.

21 round Spring season >  leading into the new Autumn and Spring 2021 seasons.

4.

Commencing week of Sunday 4th October (in line with school term 4) through to Easter 2021

This would be a normal Summer Season, and winter teams who have registered would have the first opportunity to retain their place and carry over the winter fees into the summer season.  If they cannot play summer, refunds will be available and places then open for new teams to register.

5.

Commencing week of Sunday 1st November (in line with ORC opening) through to Easter 2021

Potential opportunity to play earlier in January and have a shorter summer break to retain the same length of season.

This would also be considered a normal Summer Season, and winter teams who have registered would have the first opportunity to retain their place and carry over the winter fees into the summer season.  If they cannot play summer, refunds will be available and places then open for new teams to register.
