Domestic Competitions

30/03/2017
The Junior Grand Finals got underway on Tuesday Night with a great evening of games. Four of the seven games were decided by five points or less, a theme of exciting, close games that we hope extends into the weekend.
Grand Final schedules for Saturday Juniors, Saturday Girls and Sunday Juniors are available at the following link: http://www.waverleybasketball.com/page.aspx?id=120 or by the fixture pages on the website.
Grand FInals are as exciting as it gets in our Junior Domestic Competition, and we can all help make it a great weekend by keeping in mind some important things:
PARKING
Game times are staggered to allow constant flow of traffic, however the car park is limited and the place is usually very crowded. Be smart, arrive early just in case you end up on the street, consider carpooling if possible and please take care around the car park and surrounding streets. Plenty of families and young children will be around the area, safety needs to be front of mind.
PRESENTATIONS
Presentations will take place on Court 4 after each game. It is a fairly tight schedule and we want to make sure each team gets a fair chance to be recognised and celebrated, so please make an effort to get down their promptly after your game and enjoy the presentation.
TROPHY ENGRAVING
Trophy engraving will be available on the day and plates can be pre-ordered using the form here: http://wbahd.jamwareonline.com/_section/_edit/_423/_attachments/PREORDER.pdf. You can also order on the day but sending the form in will save time.
SCORERS AND TIMING
Referees will be rostered on scoretables, so teams do not need to provide a scorer for Grand Finals.
Timing rules will be displayed throughout the venue, but a summary is 2 X 20 minute halves, two timeouts per team per half, and clock stopping in last two minutes of the second half.
CONDUCT
WBA will continue to preach the message of positive behaviour in Junior Sport. You may have seen the video we posted to the website not long ago, but in case you didn't, it really drove home the need to be positive. Encourage the players, and be supportive of both teams. Please remember that referees are performing their role in a high pressure environment as well, we need all players, coaches and spectators to treat referees with respect and allow them to perform their role to the best of their ability.
Good luck to all teams! We hope it's a great weekend.
