Cameras and Recording

USING CAMERAS AT WAVERLEY BASKETBALL STADIUM

The Waverley Basketball Association (WBA) takes the proctection of its members very seriously. The issue of the use of cameras and video equipment in Basketball stadiums has been discussed with Basketball Victoria, and is a frequent topic of debate for all Basketball Associations across the state.

WBA has adopted Basketball Victoria’s Photography policy since 2005. To view the policy in full click here.

Upon annual review of this policy, WBA will be making clear to members of all ages:

1. - Photography and videography will be captured by a WBA staff member of families and players on and off the court, inside the Waverley Basketball Centre and all other venues used for competition.

2. - WBA will be improving and increasing its online presence and using social media platforms and the Waverley Basketball website to advertise, promote, and celebrate all programs, competitions and basketball activities. You or your child may appear on these platforms.

3. – WBA will be improving and increasing the use of digital screens throughout the venue to advertise, promote, and celebrate all programs, competitions and basketball activities. You or your child may appear on these screens.

4. – WBA’s ‘Digital Content and Social Media Administrator’ as well as other WBA staff members will be recognisable to all visitors and members of the association by wearing appropriate attire when capturing content.

WAVERLEY TV

When installing the HD TV cameras at Waverley Stadium, the company involved sought legal advice regarding the protection of members and patrons of Waverley Basketball.

The response from the Legal team can be found here.

Waverley TV footage can only be accessed for a particular team's games with an active password, these passwords are distributed to Team Representatives at the beginning of each season.

When game footage is downloaded, it is only available to those with a Waverley.TV account, who have been approved by the Team Representative.

Waverley TV has been highly beneficial in assisting the investigation of incidents and official reports. Members are reminded that these cameras are operating at all times, in addition to our extensive digital CCTV system.
