How to Join
The Waverley Basketball Association administers junior competitions for junior boys and girls. WBA creates the schedules, grading teams into groups of comparable strength and running games each week. We do not manage any individual teams; these are organised by the local Junior Clubs in the area.
We recommend prospective players and parents browse the ‘Junior Clubs’ section of our website to find a club near you that you can join, where you will find an appropriate team to play in with other players of similar age and ability. Many clubs are also active with beginners, offering clinics and training programs.
When seeking a junior club to join, families should consider the following factors:
Location and Training: Junior clubs arrange their own training facilities. Some clubs hire primary school courts or other available high schools and gyms, while other clubs hire the facilities at Waverley Stadium. Most clubs train midweek after school or on Sundays. It is important to find a club whose training requirements suit your home location and weekly schedule.
Price: Each club has different registration costs. Some clubs utilise voluntary coaches while others pay coaches and have overheads such as hiring training facilities that are built into their subscription fees.
Teams: Some clubs do not field teams in every age group, and may only be able to offer you teams in a particular competition.
