Mike Bullock - Basketball Victoria Life Member

The  Waverley Basketball Association is pleased to announce that on Sunday, May 25th, Mike Bullock was awarded life Membership of the Victorian Basketball Association.

Mike started as an administrator at the age of 14 years. This was at the Northern Basketball Association which was held in the St. Lukes hall in North Fitzroy. There were 13 teams in the competition including the Fitzroy and Collingwood Football Clubs. He took this role on at such a young age as when the little old lady that looked after it passed away, nobody else wanted to do it. Mike was playing with his older brothers in their team at the all at the time. Their team was Clifton Hill.

This was the start of 52 years being involved in Basketball as a player, referee, team manager, coach of domestic and later on, rep ball. In addition, Mike has been president, treasurer, secretary and many other positions within Basketball all this time.

Some of Mike's positions and achievements include:

- Current President at Waverley for 22 years.

- Current Basketball Victoria Board Member for 12 years.

- Current MMBL Chairman for 10 years.

- Current Vice President of the Big V (formally VBL) for 20 years.

- Past president of the Jordanville Basketball Club.

- Past President of the Jetbacks Basketball Club.

- A Grade Referee for 15 years.

- Level 2 scorer for VBL for 8 years.

- Victorian Administrator of the Year 1998, 2004.

- Mike was awarded the Australian Sports Gold Medal by the Australian Government in the year 2000 for services to the sport.
