USA BOUND FALCONS
Over 200 people recently attended a Singlet Presentation and Dinner Dance Fundraising Night for the Under 18 Girls Team who are representing the WBA on their USA Tour in December.
The night was held at the Freccia Azzurra Reception Centre in Keysborough where the excited players were presented their singlets by former NBL legend Darryl ‘Iceman’ Pearce (Adelaide 36ers & North Melbourne Giants) who also represented Australia at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
The group leave our shores on December 27 on a 21 day tour playing games against High Schools throughout North Carolina and Virginia including playing in the Xtreme Sports Shootout Classic Tournament in Virginia Beach. A stopover in Los Angeles on the way home will see the touring party take in some well known tourist attractions including Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood Boulevard and Santa Monica Beach.
Highlights of the tour also include attending NBA Games in Charlotte and Los Angeles a University of Virginia College Basketball Game and a NHL Ice Hockey Game as well as visiting prestigious academic facilities including Duke University, Wake Forest University and the University of North Carolina where legendary basketball player Michael Jordan attended.
At various times during the tour, the players will be hosted by American families and these home stays will provide the opportunity to interact and share life and cultural experiences.
