Glen Iris mums court net benefits

A GROUP of Glen Iris mums is proving it's never too late to learn new tricks.

Inspired by their children, the mums have set up their own basketball teams and are already proving a shooting success.

In all, 23 mums with children at Glen Iris Primary School have signed up to two Waverley Basketball Association teams.

Committee member Kate Bellamy said the mums teams had been a hit.

"We started off with 11 junior teams five years ago. We now have 21 teams and now the mums are getting involved," Ms Bellamy said.

"It's been great for the school community, because the kids all come and watch their mums play.

"It doesn't matter what standard you are, it's all about fun."

Ms Bellamy said she hoped more mums would join in coming seasons.
