Congratulations to the Waverley Falcons 16.3 Boys coached by Adrian Woodcock who last weekend were Premiers of the Melbourne Tigers Tournament.
With a made up side consisting of Tim Woodcock, Hayden Stewart, Richard Gee, Broderick Cheyne, Ben Wilkins, Ryan Denman and Christian Simitzis they managed to beat Melbourne Tigers(3) 48-32 and Sandringham 33-26. Saturday night the Falcons were defeated by Korrumburra 48-35 before playing there first Semi Final against Collingwood winning 43-38 the next morning. This lead to a rematch against Korrumburra in the Grand Final on Sunday afternoon.
In what was a closely contested match Waverley hit some crucial 3 pointers to eventually win 52-42. It was a great result considering Korrumburra had defeated the Falcons in the previous game just the night before and until this game were undefeated.
The MVP for the Grand Final was awarded to our youngest player for the weekend Richard Gee from the under 14's. Congratulations and well done to Richard. A further congratulations to the entire U/16.3 team as they played so well over the entire tournament in what was a great result for the team and the club.
