Falcons Teams in Classic

Two Waverley Falcons junior teams have qualified for the prestigous National Junior Classic, to be played at the Dandenong Basketball Stadium over the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

Both the Under 18 Boys and Under 18 Girls qualified for the event, which features the top junior teams from around Australia. Waverley has previously won the event in Under 16 and Under 18 boys. The first Waverley team to qualifiy were the 2004 Under 16 Boys.

The Under 18 Boys, coached by Eric Minerve, have had a great start to the season, winning all but one of their games in the first part of the season, including many impressive double figure victories.

The Under 18 Girls, coached by Elias Palioyiannis, suprised many by qualifying for VC before Christmas, and have gone one better by making the Classic. Despite losing games early, the Falcons reeled of four straight wins (three by double figures) to earn a spot for just the second time in Falcons girls history.

Both teams have also been graded into the CHampionship section of VC for the second part of the season, giving them a chance to make finals and play off for the State Championship later this year.

Fixtures for both teams are available at the National Junior Classic Website below.
