The under 16.6 Boys won all seven games including the C3 Grand Final against Warrandyte 5. But we did not have it all out own way with most games decided by a handful of points. We were slow starters in many games often finding ourselves down at half time, but after motivational pep talks from assistant coach Andrew, we were unstoppable.

 

 

The Grand Final was played after a demanding and tough weekend of hot weather, close games and flat semi final. The team came out firing in the Grand Final.   Full court defence with double teaming resulted great interceptions. Constant rotations kept the team fresh and the split/help defence restricted Warrandyte’s scoring opportunities. With our number “2” offence (pick and roll) working on both sides of the key Falcons had a lead by half time. With dominate boards at both ends, we secured our best result of the weekend: 48 to 28. Congratulations to the team of Jarryd Bradford, Jake Ioannou, Alexander Rowland, Nicholas Herschell, Jordan Litsas, Cameron Tenant, Liam Olynyk, Jacob Hill, Assistant Coach Andrew Herschell and Coach Bill Rowland. The tournament was topped off with Cameron Tennant being named player of the final.

 

Thanks to Eltham and Dandenong for arranging the tournament and to the parents and friends who ferried the team around, willingly scored and cheered long and loud.
