The Under 16 (2) Girl's have stormed their way into the VJBL Gold Medal Game on Sunday September 18 with an emphatic perimeter shooting game over the top of the ladder Frankston Blues in their Semi Final clash. The Falcons got off to a positive start on the back of some deep trey's from Tamara Ludekens, Holly Sainsbery and Jess Garnham as we took control heading into the main break holding a 23 - 14 lead.
Frankston were always going to come at us and that they did with their bigs doing some damage in the paint. The Blues momentarily held a 2 point lead mid way through 2nd half, before the Falcons took control posting a 14 - 2 run in the last 7 minutes to eventually run out winners 53 - 43 in a very entertaining game. 8 trey's from a high shooting percentage were a highlight of the game along with an excellent defensive effort, particularly down the stretch.
The team consists of Ansley Alexander, Gabby Cannizzo, Jess Garnham, Georgia Holland, Tamara Ludekens, Mikaela Miller, Eliza Sabbatucci, Holly Sainsbery & Jane Thompson with support staff of Anthony Garnham (Assistant Coach), Lisa Garnham (Team Manager) and Kate deGroot (Team Motivator).
Here's hoping the girl's can go all the way in the Gold Medal Game to cap off a remarkable season where the team will finish with a winning percentage above 70% from their games throughout the season.
