Junior clubs will no doubt be aware that Waverley Basketball Association have been facing a challenge to keep courts clean over the last few weeks during competition.
The City of Monash and the WBA are working together to ensure steps are taken to minimise dust and dirt carried onto the court surfaces.
The Council who are managing the building works outside, are taking steps to minimise the need for our patrons to walk through dirt and mud before entering the stadium. The west to east car park link has been resurfaced and adjusted to be safer, and the newly laid concrete entrance path has been further cleaned and scrubbed.
Waverley have purchased additional matting for the entrance foyers, additional dust mops and spray bottles, and machine cleaning and buffing our courts more frequently than ever before.
We are now asking for the assistance of our junior clubs in helping to clean the courts during the course of Saturday competition whilst construction works are underway. Notices and court cleaning instructions have been placed at various points around the stadium.
Please find below a letter from the City of Monash in response to our team efforts.
We have left out all the new spray bottles, mops, and dustpan and brooms at cleaning stations around the stadium. If you cannot find them, please see the supervisor or perhaps the canteen may have some available as well.
I have spoken to the committee in regards to employing additional staff to clean throughout the day, however as there are six courts and limited time between matches, this requires an army of people getting involved not just a couple of staff, and we appreciate all your support and efforts at the club level!
I am unhappy to hear from our staff members the high degree of abuse they receive as people enter the stadium. If you have any concerns or complaints, please have your members put this in writing directly to myself, , shane.palmer@waverleybasketball.com
