Building Works for Jordanville

Jordanville is to receive a building lift with the refurbishment of the Jordanville Community Centre and construction of a new facility, the Jordanville Neighbourhood Support Centre.
Monash Mayor, Paul Klisaris, said these Jordanville projects are part of the $41.1 million capital works program earmarked in the 2007/08 Budget.
"These building works will provide much needed and improved facilities for a large cross section of the local community. It will also balance the need for new community facilities while managing the upkeep of existing assets," he said.
The $230,000 refurbishment of Jordanville Community Centre, on the corner of Batesford Road and Power Avenue, will provide a more accessible and enjoyable place for community activities. The hall was originally constructed for ball sports but it is currently being used by a number of dancing and youth groups.
"As the years have taken their toll on the hall, the building works will replace the existing toilets and kitchen with new facilities to better meet the requirements of the current users," said Cr Klisaris.
New elements will be included such as the division of the mezzanine level into two separate self-contained areas. The refit is to be partly funded by Council's accessibility program and will include the replacement of the existing entrance ramp with a new one that complies with current standards. To further improve accessibility, an automatic door will replace the front entry door.
The new Jordanville Neighbourhood Support Centre is under design in Burton Street Chadstone, next to Council's recently expanded Maternal and Child Health Centre.
Funded by the Department of Human Services and the State Government, Monash City Council is designing and project managing the construction of two consulting rooms, a multi-purpose space, kitchenette, accessible toilet and storage area.
