The nation’s best club teams emerged on Melbourne over the Queens Birthday long weekend to contest the 2009 National Junior Classic, and the 2009 Nunawading Spectres Junior Tournament.
The Classic which is proudly supported by McDonald’s® was split between two venues with the under 12 and 14 grades being played at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre and the under 16 and 18 grades being played at the Dandenong Basketball Stadium. The Nunawading Spectres Tournament was also held at Nunawading, Knox, Ringwood, Waverley, Oakleigh Rec Centre and Forest Hill stadiums.
The annual tournament attracts over 300+ teams from Victoria, Metro and Country, South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania, New Zealand and Queensland. Waverley Falcons entered eight teams into the tournament, and the U/18 boys were selected for the National Classic.
