The 16.1 Girls started their Championship season in Metro 1 last Friday night with a strong win over Camberwell, thanks to an amazing effort by Claire Ioannidis.  Here's what Head Coach Elias Palioyiannis had to say:

I have been coaching junior girls basketball for around 5 years now and there was a performance on Friday 27th March that I hadn't seen before from anyone other player I had coached. Claire Ioannidis scored 36 points, which included 6 threes, in our first regular season game (in Metro 1). She came out aggressive and  our opponent,Camberwell, had no answers. I was real happy for her as she's such a hard worker and a talent, and to see it all come together was fantastic. To the other players' credit, they really did a good job of setting screens and getting Claire the ball when required. Hopefully this is a small step with bigger and better things to come for her.
