12 Girls Tournament Team

Congratulations to the Waverley Under 12 Girls Tournament/Development Squad who defeated Camberwell 3 by 5 points to win the Under 12 CD Girls grand final. The final score was 21 to 16. To top off the weekend, one of the Waverley girls, Grace Beasley, was awarded the Most Valuable Player award. All of the girls received beautiful trophies.

The girls played 6 games, winning 4 convincingly, and winning one by a point and losing the other by a point. The girls showed tremendous courage and determination beating Camberwell in the grand final, whom they had previously lost to be a point.

The team players were: Grace Beasley, Molly Beasley, Katherine Ellis,
Georgia McDavitt, Hannah McKimmie, Jemma Rayment, Ciara Richardson, and Isobel Youren. Unfortunately Caitlyn Bayston was unavailable. We look forward to her playing in the next tournament.

The team was coached by Trevor De Jong and team managed/coached by
Anne Fisher. The squad train with the Under 12 Waverley girls team each Sunday morning, with an emphasis on developing their skill level, to enable them to prepare for the next Waverley try-outs in September this year.

Special thanks to Trevor and his wife Rachel for spending the weekend driving from venue to venue, so Trevor could coach both the Under 12 Girls Teams.  We are lucky to have such a dedicated coach.
