18.1 & 18.4 Boys

18.1 Boys

The u18.1 boys had a very successful weekend, finishing the regular tournament phase 4 wins & 1 loss playing 3 of the top 4 ranked teams in Victoria in Melbourne, Dandenong & Sandringham. We made the tournament quarter finals unfortunately being eliminated in over time by Sturt by only 4 points which were the team that went on to win the tournament. All the boys worked very hard & the weekend was a litmus test on how we will fair in the Victorian Championship competition this year. With 4 bottom age players and a solid nucleus of top age players the season ahead looks very promising for the u18.1 boys.

18.4 Boys

The Eltham tournament is primarily a chance to get players back into the swing of competition and this is how the 18.4 boys approached the weekend. We played 4 very competitive games winning one by a large margin – 18 pts (HAW3), and just missing on the other three by 2 (RWD 5), 3 (ELTHAM4) and 2 (RWD 4) respectively. These were all against the teams that made the finals. Then, using the last game to run the bench and experiment with different combinations, the strain of the preceding games showed as they went down to Waverley 6 (CFM) by 9 points in what was a very scrappy and tired game. However, all signs pointed to the potential of the team and attention now turns to a rematch with Ringwood 5 at Doncaster on Friday night.
