16.3 Boys

With most our U16.3 boys away on extended holidays, our preparation for the Australia day tournament was tailored a little differently this year. The group, showed improved maturity in setting our key performance indicators (KPIs) for the weekend, and did well to achieve these goals throughout the weekend. Going into the finals series with a 4 win - 1 loss record was evidence of that.

After a very solid defensive performance in the Semi-final, and achieving our KPIs throughout the weekend, our team missed the defensive targets we set prior to the tournament in the final, essentially costing us the first place finish. The final was a tightly fought contest that came down to the last seconds of the game. with Waverley unable to take its opportunities, unfortunately, missing the open looks that were created in the final plays. On a different day it could easily have been a different result. Congratulations to winners of our section, on a well earned win and Congratulations to our Boys for making their win a difficult on for them to achieve.

All in all it was a good learning experience for the team who are starting to understand their role within the group and what it is going to take to play the high level of basketball expected at Waverley.
