Falcons fans finally get a chance to see their State Championship Men and Women on their home floor this weekend.
After a much hyped pre-season, which included tournament wins for both the men and women, the Falcons Nest will be pumping this Sunday as the Eltham Wildcats come down for two big games.
Despite only being Round Two, there's a suprising amount riding on these games. The Falcons women went down narrowly to reigning champs Ringwood in their first game, and they will be desperately chasing a win here to avoid a less than ideal 0-2 start to the season.
WNBL recruit Kate Oliver dominated both ends of the floor last week against Ringwood, with other big names such as Tegan Cunningham and Helen Roden ready to fire, the Falcons women are going to be worth watching.
The men were devestating in their first round win ocer Ringwood. It was a rare time in a long-standing rivalry when the game didn't go right down to the wire. The Hawks will be back with a force next time but that won't be for a while, the Falcons in the meantime have a busy weekend coming up.
On Saturday Night the men will head out to the new Eagle Stadium in Werribee to take on the Devils who won by 30 last week. Following that, the men return to the Nest on Sunday to back end the double-header against Eltham. The Wildcats have been tipped to surge right up the ladder this season but went 0-2 in Round One. They will throw everything at the Falcons this week and it should make for a great contest.
The women tip of at 12:30pm and the men follow at 2:30pm. It should be a great afternoon at Waverley and if you can't make it to the game it will be livestreamed on Falcons TV.
